4th of july, tropisueno, twilight and j boog

what a couple of weekends....this past week was crazy....

the weekend before 4th of july i was trying hard not spend money. so what better way to do that then to go vallejo and be bored out there! My mom made some crispy pata which was sooooo deleesh. She makes it in her turbo cooker, so i dont feel too guilty eating it, cause its not deep fried, but still comes out just as crispy.

turbo working its magic.
the spread - i love that sauce!

monday following that weekend took nell out to her first (and my first) giants game of the season! had to hit up the giants/dodgers rivlary. I got her tix for her bday and what a nite...alan came along. and despite the loss...i still had helllaaa fun!

DUCK THE FODGERS! BEAT LA!

The next morning after the game...i woke up super crampy. I thought it might have been cause i ate way too much. but after a couple hours and me going back and forth throwing up and having the runs....i decided i had food poisoning. it was probably the worst spell i have ever had ever! and come to find out that i had eaten expired cheese from the store downstairs in my building. it took me 2 nites and three days to pass the toxins. horrible!

lucky enough i was able to make it to our first official foodie dinner! me, tryenn, piggs and val planned a din to del fina, then watch eclipse after. That was my first movie out of the twilight series. Can i jus say that i love all these new vampire stories coming out. from true blood, to vampire diaries to twilight. its all very addicting to me. plus the boys in the shows are so hot...nice eye candy.

for some reason that Wednesday there was mad traffic everywhere! so instead of Del Fina (which is always a wait) i suggested tropisueno. its right across the street from metreon so it was perfect for us. my godmother and cousin took me to this place, and its pretty bomb. I tried their empanadas, and Molotes (a masa filled turnover type thingy). it was good, but a little doughy for my taste. I think i like La pinata's empanada's way better. (out in the east bay).

their plantains though i think are the best in the city. apologies for no picture. and the scallops, al pastor tacos, and ceviche were good as well. def a good spot in the city i would recommend to anyone that wants to have a nice sit down mexican dinner.

flautas (piggy's order)

Scallops with like bacon etc (val's order)
empanadas (jenn f's order)

Val's al pastor tacos

Ceviche (jenn's order)

After foodie week came 4th of july weekend. on that Saturday a bunch of us had tix to reggae by the bay, and one of my favorite Hawaiian reggae singers was performing j boog! it was packed like sardines in there but def worth it. and we finally go to hear him perform some of his new songs! if your into good music, he is def someone you need to check out. it was from 2pm-2am. we got there around 6-7, and stayed till about 2am. pretty effin tired and faded, but good times non the less. im kinda bummed that i didn't get any group pics, but here are some i took jus for fun.

boog doing his thang

snuck a flask in - fun with the camera

us sitting at the table waiting for boog to come on.

mags had a good time! ;)

got there super early.

4th of july came. stopped by nani's house cause her whole fam was over there, and she was throwing down on the grill. still kinda bummed i didnt get to stay long. then headed out to vallejo which i thought i was going to get to see my aunt and uncle, but they left early which was kind of a bummer since i drove all the way out there. and i didnt get to eat at nan's. all good though. Then headed over to piggy's and thank gawd for that cause it lifted my spirits back up. and i found out about the new setting on my camera that is specifically for fireworks. got some pretty cool flicks and kicking it with the homies always makes me feel better.

and that's it...July is a busy month! non stop bbq's and parties, but i loving the summer and the sun. till next post.

<3,
jeen
